Diploma of Journalism

Luke is Manager here at KNECT, having returned to his hometown of Westport in late 2021 to revive the West Coast Brewery into the successful Shortjaw Brewing.

Prior to taking over the brewery, Luke spent almost 20 years in Melbourne working across corporate media, freelance journalism and the independent brewing sector, including managing content for the Australian Independent Brewers Association and helping deliver large-scale industry events. He is also the author of a book on Australian beer and has received international recognition for reporting on topics including mental health in hospitality and the impacts of bushfires on small business.

Alongside his work with Shortjaw Brewing, he volunteers with Emergency Management and is a founding member of the Westport Enterprise Network, contributing to projects that support a resilient and thriving Buller community.

Luke is passionate about supporting initiatives that strengthen connections between community, food, environment and local business, which has drawn him to KNECT.
